In 2022, both Virgin Mobile UAE and Virgin Group at large have achieved some incredible feats. In this post, we’re looking back at the wonderful year that was 2022 and all that we have accomplished.
From the launch of Virgin Fibra in Italy, Virgin Voyages launching its second ship, to Virgin Atlantic opening new routes, the Virgin family hasn’t stood still in 2022.
Let’s explore more of what we accomplished this year
Being part of the Virgin family means at Virgin Mobile UAE we get to offer the same renowned Virgin experience to our customers in this region. This year, we have also continued to support the Group’s net zero commitment by launching a range of sustainability initiatives that included making our office a sustainable workplace and launch of our bio-degradable SIM cards.
In the past year, both Holly and Richard Branson worked towards causes that support the Group’s commitment to ‘Changing Business for Good’. Holly’s work as Chief Vision and Purpose Officer for the Virgin Group saw her focus on embedding purpose at the core of Virgin businesses and investing in new ventures that are working towards mitigating environmental risks and promoting sustainability.
Virgin Unite – the independent non-profit foundation of the Virgin Group – continued its work throughout the year from its involvement in preserving coastal ecosystems in the Caribbean, advocating for everyone to be 100% Human at Work, to empowering local farmers and communities in Africa.
Richard Branson continued to advocate for changing business for good by making people think differently about dyslexia including getting LinkedIn to add Dyslexic Thinking to its recognised skills list, meeting with President Zelensky to help support the people of Ukraine and continuing to fight the death penalty.
This year Richard also launched his updated autobiography, ‘Finding my Virginity’, and HBO released a new documentary series titled ‘BRANSON’.
What a year it’s been for Virgin Mobile UAE
2022 saw Virgin Mobile UAE celebrate its fifth birthday! In just five years, the team has achieved some stellar results. The app has seen more than 3.7 million downloads, the team has activated 42,000 eSIMs and achieved a 96% online payment success rate – the best in the region. We also won 7 awards this year, including the coveted Gold Award for Best Customer Experience at the Telecoms World Awards, and the Most Innovative Companies Award at the Fast Company Awards.
We’re incredibly proud to have been able to focus on sustainability this year. We launched a host of sustainability initiatives and changes within the workplace. Not forgetting our newly launched sustainability section in our mobile app where our customers have the option of contributing directly to sustainability causes, with us matching each donation.
2022, was the year we launched our Home Internet service – through which customers can enjoy easy-to-buy, set up and use the internet at an accessible price. From 2018-2021 we offered only mobile phone services. Now we offer home broadband too. We created a BNPL (Buy Now Pay Later) option with Spotii – giving customers an easier way to pay. We introduced bio-degradable SIM cards, upholding our commitment to sustainability. And finally, we launched our Research Lab, allowing customers to interact with us directly to give feedback and improve our services.
Virgin Mobile UAE had a fantastic 2022 – where we were able to deliver awesome services to our customers and live up to our purpose of ‘Making Mobile Better’. For 2023 we’re looking forward to delivering more incredible services to our customers and continuing to support Virgin Group’s purpose ‘Change Business for Good'.
