How can I troubleshoot my Home Internet?

Most issues can be fixed in just a few minutes.  Let’s walk through a few quick checks together.

First things to double‑check

  • Your plan status — Open the app, go to the SIM dropdown and find the Home Internet tab.  Make sure your plan’s active.
  • Your location — If you’ve recently moved to a new apartment/villa, update your location by contacting us via the in-App chat. Your Home Internet is restricted to your home location, so this really matters.

Testing your SIM and router

  • Try your SIM in your mobile phone— If it works, then it’s likely the issue is your router.
  • Now let’s check the router, by inserting your working SIM.
  • Restart your router — Switch it off, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on. Once the lights turn blue (depending on your device), try your connection again.
  • And, if you do need a new router – we can help! Buy one via our app.

Help your router perform at its best

  • Disconnect devices you’re not using from your router, so your active devices get more Wi‑Fi bandwidth.
  • Place your router in an open central location.  In an open space, elevated, and near a window if possible. Avoid putting in, or near cabinets, thick walls, and large metal objects, (minimizing interference – caused by things inside your home).

Optimize the performance of your Virgin Mobile Huawei Router

You can find the best location for your Huawei router using the Huawei AI Life app:

  • Download the app from the App Store or Google Play
  • Tap ‘Find Optimal Location’
  • Hit ‘Start’ and wait 30 seconds
  • Check your score, move the router, and repeat until you achieve the possible score for your router’s signal

Refresh your Home Internet location

Sometimes your location just needs a quick refresh to pick up the latest network updates. Here’s how:

  • Open your Virgin Mobile app
  • Tap ‘Home Internet’
  • Go to ‘Location’
  • Tap the three dots
  • Select “Refresh Location”

You can refresh once every 24 hours.

Live in a bigger home?

If some rooms get weaker Wi‑Fi, a Wi‑Fi extender can help push your signal further and keep everything running smoothly.

Hopefully one of these steps gets your Home Internet back up to speed
