It seems like it was just yesterday that Virgin Mobile was launched with a purpose to be digital, customer first and ‘make mobile better.’ Time flies when you’re having fun. Fast forward from 2017 and here we are today.
So, what have we achieved?
So much! Since we had our first ever meeting back in January 2016, we’ve helped to reshape and redefine the digital mobile experience in the region.
From September 2017, when we launched, to today, we now have an incredible number of customers and have seen more than 3.7 million individual app downloads during that time.
3.7m app downloads are an impressive number for a five-year-old! But guess what? That’s not all. More awesome stats incoming...

So far, we have delivered 34,000 user stories in our customer and dealer apps. Each of these stories contain a new feature enhancement, bug fix, or a copy update – making our App and customer experience even better.

Since our launch, we’ve partnered with many awesome brands including Netflix, Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Amazon, HSBC, Anghami and many more. We’ve been super excited to welcome Sir Richard Branson, and his daughter Holly Branson, who have visited us a few times, here in Dubai.
None of our amazing achievements would have been possible without the amazing people who work at Virgin Mobile. We’re proud that we’re a diverse organization. A team of 47% female and 53% male. And we’re made up of over 30 different nationalities.
However, without the invaluable insights we get from our incredible customers every day, none of this success would have been possible.
So, before we blow out our candles, we would like to take this moment to thank each one of you who made our success possible. We salute you.
We had an amazing five years in the UAE. We have made contributions to social causes, ‘made mobile better’, and delivered great value for our customers. And best of all we have had fun doing it.
We’re super excited for the next 5 years of our journey and we hope you are too.
Highlights so far...
2018
We launched our in-app chat for customer support, the only mobile brand to ever have such a facility. We also launched eSIM for customers in that year.
2019
We turned EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) positive in just 24 months – a strong sign of a healthy business! Hurrah! That year, we also launched our famous 50% off annual plan.
2020
We started our cashback loyalty program.
This year we developed and started to roll out our new brand identity and logo.
2021
Oh boy, this was a big year for us.
We started testing our 5G Home Internet service.
We also started a sustainability initiative, inviting our customers to also make their own contributions. We planted a lot of trees and continue to do so! Taking our operations Carbon Neutral!
We’re proudly customer-centric, as an organization and in 2021, we launched the Virgin Mobile Research Lab. Whoop whoop!
2022
We launched our bio-degradable SIM – our favourite colour after red is green.
We’ve launched 5G home internet.
We’ve launched Buy Now. Pay Later capability – helping customers spread the cost of their mobile bill.
Set up a People Squad full of creative ideas.
